The inaugural Firethorn Foundation ANZ MBA Fellowship

The Firethorn Foundation is proud to announce that Dom Balasuriya has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Firethorn Foundation ANZ MBA Fellowship. This award supports outstanding students from Australia and New Zealand pursuing their MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

The Fellowship provides US$50,000 per year toward tuition for each year of the Wharton MBA program. It is awarded to individuals who exemplify academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to making a meaningful impact in their communities and industries. The Fellowship reflects the Foundation’s mission: to invest in education as a catalyst for opportunity, leadership, and lasting change.

In the inaugural year of the program, the Foundation was thrilled to receive applications from an exceptional group of candidates from both Australia and New Zealand, bringing an impressive range of experiences, bold aspirations, and inspiring personal stories. Among the applicants, Dom Balasuriya stood out for his notable achievements, dedication to service, vision for the future, and strong alignment with the Foundation’s values.

Dom was most recently Economic Consul in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, with the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade where he worked on impact investment as an Australian diplomat. Upon being selected, Dom said, “I am very grateful to the Firethorn Foundation for choosing to make such a significant investment in the education of future business leaders from Australia and New Zealand.”

Please join us in congratulating Dom.
